Incubator
The incubator is a key piece of equipment for any cell culture lab. We use incubators to provide the perfect environment for our cells to grow and stay healthy. The two numbers displayed on the door of the incubators are the temperature and the level of carbon dioxide. These two quantities are controlled very carefully to match the temperature and pH in our body. As we open the door, we must make sure to keep the inside clean and as sterile as possible to avoid annoying contaminations. Water ensures that the cells are exposed to the right amount of moisture for them to thrive and not dry out. A fan also mixes the air to make sure that all our cells are exposed to the same conditions. Thanks to incubators, scientists can study cells in a controlled environment to better understand how our body works in health and disease.
